The purpose of this benefit is to provide financial assistance to eligible Veterans and widows (widowers) who are faced with high monthly medical expenses. Also known as a Veterans Widow Pension or Veterans Pension, the service was created to help assist with out of pocket medical expenses and benefit compensation VA. What does the Pension pay for?

Monthly medical expenses that can be covered by the Veterans' Pension (or Veterans' Widow Pension) include:

Assisted living fees
Home health aides
Prescriptions
Doctor co-payments
Dental expenses
Insurance premiums
Eyeglasses, hearing aids and anything else medically related

How much will the VA Benefit provide?

For 2007, the annual benefit can be up to $21,615 for a couple, $18,234 for a Veteran and $11,715 for a widow(er).

Do I qualify for the Veterans' Pension?

The military qualifications for this benefit are:

Must not have a dishonorable discharge
Must have served 90 days on active duty and at least one day must have been during a period of war
Must be disabled or over age 65
